Send a Letter to the Media

The media plays a major role in influencing public opinion and influencing elected officials. Members of Congress read Letters to the Editor because it gives them a sense of what people in their District are thinking. VotersForPeace has three goals for letter writing.

First, we hope that Peace Voters will take time to send a brief letter to their local paper advocating that others in their community consider voting for what they want - voting for peace - and encouraging others to sign the Voters Pledge for Peace.

Second, we are forming 'Rapid Response Media Teams' focused on the major news outlets such as The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, and The Chicago Tribune, or blogs like DailyKos, Anti-war.com, LewRockwell.com, etc depending on interest. Let us know which outlet you read, and we'll build an active peace communications effort.

Third, we need people committed to writing Letters to the Editor as a coordinated effort, especially when the media get the facts wrong or fails to cover important events. If a newspaper receives 10 or more letters on an issue it is much more likely that one will get published. If you would like to get involved in a coordinated effort to influence the media contact us at:
